51 Reasons Why Entrepreneurship Is My Path to Fulfillment

Entrepreneurship is like having children. I will explain. First of all, it is not for everyone — sorry if that shocks you on either side of the statement; the truth tends to do that to me too. The simple truth is that you must be made for them to survive and thrive.

Much like having children, you fall in love instantly, completely and irreversibly. Love takes but an instant to overwhelm you when the right thing comes along. But with children, you exclaim, there is the physical and biological bond. Not always. Take a look at adopted children; their parents love them instantly, deeply and truly despite lack of those bonds.

Just like with children, entrepreneurship marks a point of no return in your life. There is no return policy on those little darlings once they arrive and similarly, there is no going back to working for someone else once you have broken the ties. I mean, well, of course you could technically get a job at another place; however if you were made for entrepreneurship like me, the choice of return to corporate world would not be without excruciating pain, heavy sacrifice and kissing fulfillment and freedom goodbye.

Once the bird is set free, it can never go back to even a golden cage, regardless of the appeal and the opulence.

And I assure you I did not write that just to fill the blog post with good prose.

But it is just not right to compare entrepreneurship to children, you may argue. Well, let’s see, entrepreneurship is hard, hard work, most of which goes very unnoticed in the eyes of the world. It can cost a fortune to grow. It can give you heartbreak and disappointment. It can and does keep you up at night and yet you smile at the whole prospect in the morning every time. It can be frustrating and thankless, brutal and challenging, and the return on the investment may not show up for a while, if ever.

Nonetheless, you put your heart and soul into it and do not question your choice for a second.

What part of this is not similar to the nature of children (not yours, of course, but other people’s!)?

51 Reasons to Be an Entrepreneur

However if you need even more reasons why I was made for the adventures of entrepreneurship, I prepared to meet you on that demand, my darling readers. I was made for entrepreneurship – perhaps you will find that you too were made for it – because:

1. The idea of working for myself exhilarates me to no end.
2. I am finally able to express the passions of my soul within a business context.
3. I am doing something meaningful with my life.
4. I am certain of my path and of my success – both present and eventual.
5. My motivation is through the roof. Every day. All daylong.
6. I have never been this inspired to be able to live so that I could work.
7. It is so the opposite of all things corporate and that thrills me to no end.
8. I get to do things my way.
9. I can put my self-discipline to optimal use.
10. My raw ideas matter and my uncensored opinions rule.
11. No one wastes my time anymore because I am in charge.
12. I can make my own decisions without the anxiety of approval.
13. Everything is up to me. The accountability excites me.
14. The constant learning is the best aphrodisiac for my mind.
15. Failures fuel my energy rather than drain it.
16. The amazing [blogging, social media] community is like my family.
17. The social butterfly princess inside me is finally satiated (see #16 for reason).
18. My love of exploration of new things can thrive.
19. There are no boundaries – geographical or otherwise – to my business or my social network.
20. I simply revel in the idea of my own product creation.
21. I use and grow my communication skills every day.
22. I have the privilege of doing public speaking and thus sharing my message with a live audience.
23. I can use my imagination to my heart’s desire.
24. I rejoice in choosing my own technology and tools, whether it is Thesis Theme for my site or Twitter as a social platform..
25. I am free of all politics, bureaucracy, and idiocy.
26. I can cultivate true leadership skills.
27. My technical knowledge can dedicate itself to worthy aspirations now.
28. My artistic side has a chance to breathe and express itself.
29. My independent nature can shine and thrive in this environment.
30. I do not have to ask for “time-off” to go on vacation.
31. I am no longer a “number” in an organization, a structure or a team.
32. I get to say no to working with mediocre minds and choose my own network.
33. I set and unset my own hours and change it as frequently as I wish.
34. The mobility aspect is still sexy, even to a work-from-home junkie such as me.
35. My goal-oriented disposition will lead me to success.
36. The joy of coaching people to develop smart habits is inexplicable.
37. It let me crush a significant fear by walking away from a lot of money and security.
38. The self-growth of the journey alone makes it worth the while.
39. It is fun to think outside the box or rather, crush the box altogether.
40. It is liberating not having a boss. Or a director. Or a VP. Or anyone over me.
41. Building something from scratch has never felt so good.
42. I use my powers of influencing for good and important things.
43. I love selling now that I sell only that in which I believe.
44. Honesty and integrity can finally be the best and only policy.
45. Following my heart had been way under-rated. Not any more.
46. I can live a life with no regrets.
47. All things are possible. On all fronts. Limitations are permanently removed.
48. The competition is healthy, you know, as opposed to cutthroat.
49. It has shown me just how brave I really am. Stunned about that every day.
50. Everyday is exciting, unexpected, and filled with possibilities and new things.
51. I get to say, “I run my own business.” Rather than “I work for…” — how long have I waited to say that?

These are only the first 51 reasons on a journey that I have no doubt was made for me and why professional blogging has opened up more doors for me than I can count. I expect to have more in the months and years to come. Until then, I simply urge you to do one thing: to live a life that will never lead you down a road of regret because finding your way home from that road may just prove too much for the soul to bear.
