On Healing, Slowing Down and Seeing More
“There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled.
You feel it, don’t you?” — Rumi
The mood at my home these days has been all about healing and getting my body back into the condition that it was before the car accident, so naturally, I’ve slowed down. (For me anyway, I feel like those giant tortoises I adore so much …)
And when you slow down, you see more. So Much More. You see more of life, more of yourself, more of others, and more of the same thing you’ve seen a hundred times in your life.
Slowing down opens your eyes wider. Maybe it opens your third eye, and that is the vision that I know I was missing in the rush rush of life. Well, I started to take notes. For me. For you. For anyone who forgets life is filled with awesome little things. You know them. You’ll relate to them. Yet you take them for granted. So do I. Hence the reminders. Enjoy and embrace these awesome little things more fiercely next time one pops up along the way as you are rushing from one thing to the next.
Oh and a word of caution: don’t rush. Like, ever! Go slower to get ahead. Rushing has caused me too much pain and heartache, and I’d have arrived faster if I’d gone slower. You know?
