What if you could transform your life with a natural, accessible, and powerful solution that really works? What if the answer to your questions and your struggles was simpler? What if you could put a mini-revolution into your body AND your business or career?
The miracles of exercise, baby, are revolutionary if you are willing to allow it. Sure, exercise is amazing for your body, your mind and your well-being, you already know that along with the whole planet thanks to a tad bit of marketing and advertising in the last few decades, and that should be incentive enough for all of us to get our daily dose of exercise as vigilantly as we get the daily dose of water and air!
But let’s face it, that’s not very interesting or exciting at all, much less motivating!
Essential and necessary, yeah sure, we all need to be healthy – yada yada – but that does not thrill us to the point that it makes us wanna rush to the gym and get on that treadmill or go outside in freezing temperatures for that dreaded run. Nooooo way!
The miracles of exercise, you see, go well beyond fitness and weight-loss and I want to help you understand that so clearly that so you start treating exercise like the best – and cheapest! – medicine for healing you and preparing you for big success.
Exercise unleashes your creativity and gives your productivity an exponential boost. Exercise detoxes your body and gets your system running like a finely tuned machine. Exercise clears your mind and moves those clouds and fogs out of the way so you can hear yourself think! Exercise is powerful beyond measure, so let’s learn how to make friends with it.
The 3 Rules to Unleash the Miracle of Exercise
Now there are certain things that you need to be aware of, because even miracles need some fine-tuning in order to come to light. So I will teach you the 3 rules of unleashing the miracles of exercise here:
RULE #1: You have GOT to do a form of exercise that you LOVE.
And by love, I mean love, baby! I don’t mean that you have tolerance for it, or that you like doing it or you sorta enjoy it. I mean that you gotta be crazy about it because that’s the first rule of letting your creativity come to life, and it can do that only when your body is moving and your heart is pumping to the rhythm of something that rocks your world.
So what’ll be it for you?
Do you love walking, playing tennis, volunteering to help build houses (talk about manpower combined with compassion!), or hip hop? Are you a runner, a cyclist, a gym junkie? Do you have a routine for a home program that you enjoy
For me? Indoor cycling, plyometrics, power yoga, Kundalini yoga, and walking long walks when we travel.
So I am very specific here: I don’t enjoy outdoor cycling, I don’t do hot yoga or restorative yoga, and I do Kundalini yoga only at home, never in a studio, and I get bored out of my mind walking around my own neighborhood.
It has taken me a while to refine what I love and what I simply did to get fit, and when I started doing what I love, I started to unleash true creativity and productivity. What do I mean by that? I mean that during my exercise routines, I come up with the best ideas for my business, and after my exercise, I am far more productive in short spans of time than I ever am on days that I don’t get around to it.
RULE #2: You have GOT to exercise on a DAILY basis.
I know you are gasping at this … that’s if you haven’t left already. I hear you, my friend, I do but please hear me out too. The standard is what, 3 times a week to get your heart pumping a few minutes?
Well, that might be good enough for a minimum level of fitness but if you want the MIRACLE of exercise, which is what we are talking about here, then it’s imperative that you set aside a minimum of 10 minutes or ideally, an hour a day to do something that will move and shake you long enough to help you come alive.
Find a time of day that works for you. I love my 5:45am workouts but I also enjoy evening cycling. Experiment with different ways of integrating it into your day and then schedule it solid on the calendar like you would a doctor’s appointment or a meeting with the boss. And commit!
That’s when your creativity and productivity kick in. That’s when ideas come to you. That’s when you begin to get in the zone and go beyond the obvious – and yet fabulous – benefits of exercise on the surface and really understand the power of it. And when you do, I promise you will get hooked.
RULE #3: You have GOT to STAY WITH IT long enough.
Some miracles happen overnight; others ask for a little time and patience. Guess which one exercise choose to be?
Yep. You gotta be patient, and let it work its magic in your system. You can expect to see immediate changes in how you feel after a few sessions, no doubt, but for you to really get in that zone of productivity, clarity and creativity that I am talking about, you need to stay with it for 2-4 weeks solid.
If you are not new to exercise, then you may get there faster by making these changes in Rules #1 and #2 and really paying attention. If you are new, then please give it some time until you figure out what you love to do and how it works into your schedule, and then let your body and mind adjust to this new change before they reward you handsomely. And reward you, they shall!
The Giant Mistake of Letting Exercise Lapse
So both during in my corporate career and in my crazy wild overworked entrepreneurship journey, I’ve let this one giant source of motivation, invigoration and uplifting lapse countless times – lest you thought I am perfect in my promise to daily exercise!! And every single time, I’ve come up with brilliant excuses to just take a break, focus on “more important” things, and convince myself that I will get back into it after this phase, after this project, and after this [insert excuse]. (You know how that conversation goes!)
Guess what happened every time I did that to myself?
I was filled with regrets and anger at my own sheer stupidity!
How can I give up the one thing that is a non-negotiable and keeps me sane?
When you fall off the exercise habit, your body goes into a different mode altogether, and getting back into it becomes a herculean effort the longer you wait, but that’s not all. You start to get more stressed, and you may be working harder but you are getting further and further from your full capacity. You are basically becoming a lesser version of yourself the further you get from exercising and taking care of your body.
You don’t have to run a marathon. You don’t have to do hot yoga. You simply have to take care of your body in a way that suits you best every single day. In fact, I have become so committed to making exercise accessible AND possible for busy professionals that I created a program that gives you 10-minute daily invigoration with these breathing and body movements. Get Day 1 for Free and start moving 10 minutes a day! This program is ideal for those of you who work from home and also for those who don’t want to pay for a gym membership. It is ideal if you are stay-at-home mom-or-dad or a super busy professional.
Look, I know how hard it is to make time for exercise. Right now, I exercise one or two hours a day but I hardly have time to do much else besides exercise and work.
Funny how I have time for so little after leaving my corporate job but standing up a business is my new passion and that’s my choice, but one thing is for sure: I can’t do it if I am not on top of my health, and so I have become vigilant about my health.
Re-Igniting Your Own Light through the Miracle of Exercise
Wherever you may be in your life, in a stressful job or unhappy relationship or in a sea of problems that you can’t see more than a few feet ahead of you, I believe that exercise will alleviate your problems. It won’t solve them and it won’t make them go away, HOWEVER, when you give exercise a chance, it will open you to possibilities so much so that YOU yourself will solve your problems.
Again, you do not need to suffer through an exercise program that you don’t enjoy or pay a fortune to go to the gym. Exercise is accessible to you and the only person that will stand in your way and keep you from enjoying the miracles of exercise is yourself.
So choose to step aside, commit to this natural, most-effective, form of unleashing your true potential, and if you’ve been looking for a way to re-ignite your beautiful light, give exercise a real chance.
