Learn to Use, not Abuse, the Power of Your Mind.
Your mind believes anything you tell it.
Did you know that and do you know why that is so important?
Let’s talk about that today.
I am so passionate about how we can create the right life for ourselves by first creating the right mindset. So, your mind believes anything you tell it. Is it true? Let’s see.
What is it that you tell yourself all day long? You might be exceptional but most of us walk around saying relatively negative criticisms to ourselves or about ourselves.
Let’s say someone asks you whether you can run a marathon or you can give up cheese for a week usually the response is immediately I can’t. That phrase “I cannot” is part of our everyday dialogue and that is your message to your mind.
I can’t give up cheese.
I can’t run a marathon.
Your mind says “oh ok I can’t do that well we’re not going to bother because I know I can’t do that”. You’ve already woven a story that your mind believes. As you repeat this over time it becomes a fact to you. It becomes the truth whereas it’s really just something you’ve been telling yourself.
I had a personal transformation in my yoga journey recently that I still to this day cannot believe is happening because the story I had been telling myself was so powerful. I think it’s still part of my system.
This is a move where you transition from a complete backbend and you come back onto your feet, you come back to standing without any help. I’ve been doing it now about a hundred fifty times in a row (not in one practice but over the course of a month) and so I know that my body can do this now but the first time that it happened I had to convince my mind that I’m capable of doing this.
You see my body was already there.
My yoga teacher said your body has no limitations on doing this at this point in your journey but my mind had been keeping me from doing so because I have been telling myself the same story.
I was killing myself by trying so hard to come back to standing but to no avail, because my mind didn’t think we can do it.
It wasn’t going to change the outcome.
So what is it that you’re telling yourself all day long that you cannot do, that you don’t know what to do or whatever other negative phrases that you’re using?
Your mind listens and believes you and then uses that as a fact to run your life.
You can send a different message.
You can choose to believe in a different story: a story of being a confident person and saying that to your mind is most likely the true story.
So going forward tell yourself a different story. Change your mind on how you see yourself and see how that will integrate into so many better results in your life.
